With today’s advancements in technology, including networking, website developing, business commerce activities to personal online banking and communications, there is a further and advanced need for security protocols. With the new wave of new networking and communication abilities, the doors are opening up more and more for hackers, intruders and identity thieves. Identity thieves and hackers are advancing in their skills as well and are becoming threats to all of society’s personal, private and interpersonal communications. With these threats, web developers needed to adapt by being more keen and cautiously aware of any bugs or holes within their system which enables hackers to intrude with any kind of efforts.
One of the most used devices for interpersonal and private communications and activities on the web are conducted through the use of mobile phones. Unfortunately, hackers have become skilled at intruding into these devices to grab data for their advantage as well. One of the greatest security protocols one can utilize within their mobile phone is a VPN, or virtual private network. VPN not only maintains an authenticated and encrypted path for data to pass through securely over public networks, it also allows multiple networks to connect securely.
In order to set up VPN on a mobile phone, the user must first ensure their phone supports it. Just to make sure by checking for VPN support, the process of steps need to be followed regardless if the phone supports it or not. Prior to setting the phone up for VPN, ensure that there is an Internet connection. Then, user will need to go to the settings page of the phone and click on the wireless & networks option. After selecting wireless & networks, if the phone supports VPN, there should be an option to select at this time. Click on VPN and choose “add VPN” and it will ask you to select the type of VPN you would like to create. At this point, type in the VPN settings that were given by the administrator and press save and exit. The phone should now be operating with VPN support.
